Community Service

Serving Like Christ

Because of our love for God, we believe serving others is a natural outpouring of faith. At SFCS, we follow the example Christ gave us—leading with compassion and putting others first. Community service gives students the opportunity to live that out, making a tangible impact in the San Francisco community while growing in humility, empathy, and leadership.

A lifelong habit of giving back

While acts of service are encouraged in every grade, high school students have a specific opportunity to grow through consistent outreach. Each high schooler is required to complete a minimum of 15 service hours per year, totaling 60 hours by graduation. Students who go above and beyond—earning 100 hours or more—are honored with the Silver Service Award during senior graduation.

FINDING THE RIGHT FIT FOR EACH STUDENT

Not every service opportunity looks the same—and that’s a good thing. What’s meaningful for one student may not be the right fit for another. That’s why our college advisor is available to help students explore options that align with their interests, gifts, and future goals. Whether volunteering at a shelter, tutoring younger students, or organizing donation drives, our goal is for each student to find a way to serve that is both impactful and authentic.
